The art prize “Kunstpreis junger westen” is an art prize awarded by the city of Recklinghausen. It has been awarded since 1948 as a sponsorship prize for fine arts and commemorates the Recklinghausen artist group “junger westen”.

The graphic motive is based on a sculpture by the art group “junger westen” and draws a link to the obligatory bouquet of flowers that is presented to the winner.

The color palette is inspired by the seasons, thereby reflecting the phases of the art prize: application, exhibition, and catalog.
